Our friendly women-only centre in Chester-le-Street offers a wide variety of free and low-cost courses to help you learn and develop new skills. We also offer training to other sectors, organisations and groups; we can deliver bespoke programmes to meet all your needs.

Introduction to Complementary Therapies - 10 weeks
Learn the benefits of complementary therapies, to improve health and wellbeing.  Practical application of Chinese reflexology for the face, Indian head Massage, and introduction to Swedish massage for the hands & face.

Fit for Life – 12 weeks 
Balance mind and body. For all levels of fitness. Body – a series of toning exercises to build endurance as well as balance and posture.  Mind - learn & experience mindfulness techniques to help you feel calm and relaxed.

Reading Poetry for Pleasure – 10 weeks 
Discover, discuss and share poems on a variety of themes - love, nature, memory and nonsense. All in a very supportive no pressure environment.

Samba Drumming – 10 weeks 
During this fun and loud session you will have the opportunity to play different drums Samba style. You will learn the skills and techniques to create patterns of beats and rhythms, and build up a repertoire of tunes as you progress.

Steps to Confidence - 10 Weeks
What is confidence? Where does it come from?  Look at how to build confidence and self-esteem, explore assertiveness, positive thinking and emotional resilience in a supportive environment.

All areas of maths are covered in this course - work from your own starting point and move on at your own pace with lots of friendly support.

Creating Sugar Craft Flowers – 10 weeks 
Develop your creative side learn the techniques to produce beautiful flowers made from sugar paste! With guidance and support learn to create your own bouquet.

Carry on Creative Writing – 12 weeks 
This is a follow up to the Intro to Creative Writing course. With support you will be given tasks to develop your imagination and writing skills further!

All Things French – 10 weeks 
Improve your knowledge of French language & culture, through subjects such as French cuisine, travelling and tourism, history, geography, music, literature, cinema & art.

Introduction to Creative Writing – 12 weeks  
Exercise and develop your imagination and creativity. Build your vocabulary and literacy skills while increasing your confidence. Writing can also provide an outlet for your emotions and self-expression.

Words are powerful! This course aims to help you use them better and understand their meaning more clearly, correct common
grammatical errors, understand the power of words in social media and throughout history.

Build your confidence in the kitchen with easy, tasty and nutritious meals on a budget. Work together to cook and share a dish each week and explore the health benefits of food and nutrition.

The Brain! From Cave to Civilisation – 10 weeks 
Learn the fascinating theories of evolutionary psychology.  Explore the ways in which evolution and natural selection may have shaped our minds and our behaviour.

Patch Work and Quilting – 12 weeks  
This is the course for you if you want to learn different patchwork and quilting techniques using both machine stitching and hand stitching. Once you have learned the techniques you can be as creative as you like!
