Local community group, Aspire Learning, Support and Wellbeing are celebrating the launch of their ‘Women in the Lead’ project. The project is funded by Aspire’s award of £277,000 in National Lottery Community funding.

Aspire were joined by partners and supporters to celebrate their delight at being able to continue supporting women in the Chester-le-Street community through the launch of their project. Aspire were delighted to be joined by MP Kevin Jones to celebrate the launch.

The afternoon was a wonderful celebration of the many exciting opportunities that Aspire are able to continue to develop due to this funding, and Aspire were extremely grateful of all those who came to support the launch.

The ‘Women in the Lead’ project’s overall aim is to provide a gender-specific, trauma-informed, holistic approach to the needs of local women to build resilience, develop a sense of ownership, and allow women to be in the lead of their own lives. With this funding, Aspire aims to improve women’s physical and mental wellbeing, sense of belonging, resilience, self-worth and confidence.
